Choose VoIP For Modern Communication Technology

VoIP, or voice over Internet protocol, should be your choice for modern audio transmission technology. Although audio transmissions over the Internet have been happening for quite some time now, newer technologies such as VoIP is providing many companies with the realization that there is great potential for offering this service in competition to making traditional landline-based telephone calls. Users will find the actual setup is much simpler and the costs are much more effective than those provided through traditional methods. Some people believe that this type of communication will overtake traditional methods for making long-distance phone calls based on the fact that the technology is improving every day. There are three ways to make phone calls through VoIP.

ATA or Analog Telephone Adapter
You can connect your regular telephone to your computer and onto the Internet using an adapter. This will convert your analog data to digital while it is being transmitted through the Internet. All you need for a setup is a cable connection from your phone to the computer.

Your Computer to Someone Else's
You can now make free calls from one computer to another computer. You need to secure necessary software installed on your computer in order to make these calls.

New VoIP Phones
Another way is to obtain a VoIP phone that looks just like your typical traditional landline phone. These do have a handset, cradle and the typical buttons found on any phone. But, these phones use RJ-45 Ethernet connectors. Standard telephones use RJ-11 connectors. Your VoIP phone is connected directly to the computer's router. Although necessary hardware and software is built right into the phone as nothing additional needed to make Internet-based telephone calls.
